Klay once appeared in an interview about the dangers of scaffolding
Identified on the chyron simply as “NBA player,”
Thompson once appeared on a local New York City TV segment after a scaffolding collapse. The man-on-the-street interview went about how you’d expect.
“I usually observe if the piping and stuff is new,” Thompson said. “Sometimes, you know, if something looks like it’s been there a while, I try to kind of avoid that.”
Sage words from Klay.

Klay loves chess so much he consulted a grandmaster for advice
A chess aficionado since middle school, Thompson takes the game seriously. He’s got multiple chess boards at home, a magnetic set for the road and plays chess on a phone app with friends and teammates. When Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen came to see the Warriors play,
Thompson pulled him aside to ask for tips on how to beat Andre Iguodala.
“He said he’d sit down and teach me some things one day,” Thompson said.

When Klay’s having a bad game, his brother texts him videos of his dog If you rely on cute animal videos to get you through a bad day, so does Thompson. His brother Mychel will often text videos of Klay’s beloved bulldog Rocco doing cute Rocco things when things aren’t going well on the court. Rocco reminds Thompson to keep things in perspective.

His dream job is to be a high school teacher
Teammates like Draymond Green have talked about becoming billionaires by 40, but Thompson has a much more modest life dream. In an interview with Complex, Klay said he’d
love to go into teaching after his playing days are over.
“It’s my dream to one day be an athletic director of a high school slash high school coach,” Thompson said. “When I’m done playing, everything I’ve learned, I just want to give back to the kids who are coming up.”

He’s incredibly messy and always has a strange assortment of people crashing at his house
Thompson has a beautiful pad up in the Oakland hills, but it might not be the place for neat freaks.
“Klay got a million people living there,” Draymond Green revealed in
a 2017 interview. “It’s weird.”
Draymond’s exaggeration aside, he claimed Thompson had at least three people living in his house at any given time, plus “a random” for good measure.
“We call it the trap house,” he added.

He didn’t realize those clips of #ChinaKlay would go viral, but he doesn’t seem to mind
When Thompson delighted everyone back home with his antics in China, he really was dancing like no one was watching.
#ChinaKlay went viral for his hilarious summer break moments, from
dancing in the club to bombing badly on a dunk attempt. And, at least for a small, blissful moment, Thompson had no idea it was happening.
“I didn’t know everything would go viral as it did. I forgot the internet was so worldwide,” Thompson told JaVale McGee on an episode of his Parking Lot Chronicles. ”It is undefeated.”

The weirdest, funniest and Klay-est Klay Thompson facts
The Warriors are a squad of all-stars, but Klay Thompson might just be their sweetly strange, understated talisman.
When things go south, Thompson is the calming influence. When other players are injured, he’s resilient. He’s never missed a playoff game, and he’s only missed 21 games of the 550-plus he’s played since being drafted in 2011.
MORE: Klay arrived early for the famed ‘Hamptons 5’ meeting and did some hilarious stuff to pass the time
In celebration of the unlikely superstar, we’ve collected some of our favorite #JustKlayThings, from his favorite way to cheer himself up (of course it involves Rocco) to that time he went viral for dancing in a Chinese club.
ALSO: Klay Thompson’s tribute shoes for his dog are the cutest thing you’ll ever see
“If I could do it all over again, I would be Klay,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said at the 2017 Warriors media day. “I want to be Klay. He’s got it figured out. He just wants to play hoop and have fun, play with his dog. He’s the most low-maintenance guy on earth.”
